The UK's newest Music festival Comes to Town
Friday 3rd, Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th October promises to be a special weekend in the High Peak calendar, not to mention for music lovers, as the inaugural Hayfest music and beer festival comes to town. Hayfest is taking place this weekend in Hayfield, the beautiful village nestling at the foot of Kinder Scout in the stunning Peak District. The family event, which will also include craft stalls and a children’s fairground will be held on Hayfield cricket pitch with all the musical acts playing in a waterproof marquee. Everything is set up and sound checks are underway as artists from around the UK have started to arrive in the sunshine. We’re expecting a morning of rain tomorrow, but clear by noon, in which case, all the acts will perform in dry weather, a triumph in itself. But a bit of mud adds to the Glastonbury feel. Musically, there is something for everybody including an eclectic mix of music across 2 stages, with headline acts including Cockney Rebel’s Steve Harley, Roachford and Eric Clapton’s right hand man, Andy Fairweather Low. Hayfield residents are no strangers to media and entertainment creativity. The birthplace of the wonderful Arthur Lowe, the village is also the main location for the BAFTA-nominated BBC drama 'The Village', starring Maxine Peake and John Simm, recently holding the Sunday 9pm BBC 1 slot. The village has also been visited this year by John Craven for Countryfile and earlier by Davina McCall on her bike ride for Sport Relief. So this is the next step. With 18 acts featuring veterans of Top of the Pops, Number One hits and platinum selling albums, and supported by an eclectic array of some of the UK’s best blues, rock, jazz and folk musicians and the most exciting new talent, Hayfield is the ideal location for the country’s newest music festival. Tickets are priced at £20 each day or £50 for a weekend ticket. More info: http://www.hayfest.org.uk/
